Early Life:
Hubert was born in New York City, the daughter of a truck driver and a homemaker. She was raised in the Bronx and attended the High School of Performing Arts. She then studied acting at Herbert Berghof Studio and the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.
Career:
Hubert’s first television role was as Lisa on the soap opera Ryan’s Hope from 1984 to 1985. She has also had guest roles on shows such as Miami Vice, The Equalizer, and New York Undercover.
In 1990, Hubert was cast as Vivian Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, a sitcom starring Will Smith. She played the role for three seasons until 1993 when she was replaced by Daphne Maxwell Reid.
Hubert has said that she left the show because of creative differences with Smith, who she felt was disrespectful to her and other members of the cast and crew. She also claimed that she was not paid fairly for her work on the show.
